Elena turned 5 months old on Tuesday. She has had a rough time sleeping lately. I'm not sure if it is because we have been so busy and she is off her routine or what but it has been hard on all of us. She has been going to bed really late and waking up more during the night than usual.
This has also been a hard week because Brigid's brother lost his battle with cancer last friday. We went to Columbus last weekend to be with the Tracy family then we went back to Columbus on Tuesday for the funeral. It was really sad but Gerard is in a better place now and Brigid gave the most touching eulogy. Please keep the Tracy family in your prayers.
Tonight we gave Elena her first taste of baby food. We tried carrots and at first she seemed to enjoy it. She would open her mouth really big. Then after a few bites she kept spitting it out. This isn't the first time she has had "real" food. We have given her a little bit of avocado a few times and she really likes it but the carrots were the first time she has eaten from a spoon. 
By the way- her shirt says my mom is hot.
